Fire Protection
Intumescent Coating
Intumescent coating is one of the easiest and most efficient ways to protect load bearing elements of a building against fire. It is a coating that reacts to heat by swelling many times its original thickness, insulating the structural elements eg roofs, beams and floors. Each layer of intumescent coating will increase the protection time. Results achieved can vary from 30 minutes to 120 minutes, depending on the desired specification. This allows more time for the safe evacuation of the building.
Cementitious Fire Coating
Cementitious Fire Coating is a cement-based product, that is sprayed in multiple layers When finished, it forms a barrier that delays the rate of heat transfer, in the event of a fire. Each additional layer will achieve an increase in time of protection, for example, a single coat will achieve a 2 hour rated finish, additional coats can achieve a rating of up to 4 hours. It can be used on various materials and is very cost effective.
